Jan Willem de Gee was awarded his PhD with distinction (“summa cum laude”). He gave a beautiful talk that summarized his deep and novel insights into the relationship between phasic arousal and decision-making. This work had started with his MSc internship, already published in PNAS, and which has since led to a number of influential papers, using a variety of neuroscience techniques (pupillometry, behavioral modelling, fMRI, MEG) and probing into difference species (humans and mice).
We celebrated Jan Willem’s defence as well as his farewell party — Jan Willem has already moved to Baylor College in Houston, to do a Postdoc with our collaborator Matt McGinley.
Congratulations and best of luck, Jan Willem!
